About
A refusal to confuse motion with progress.
Eline De Picker · Founder
The Smart Rebellion is a boutique strategy studio. It helps businesses grow more profitably by fixing what gets in the way: strategy, operations, positioning and technology.
For years, Eline worked inside large organisations — at EY and IBM, reaching Senior Manager level — on transformation, strategy and change. Insurance, financial services, operating models, programmes where business, operations, communication and technology all had to move at once. Belgium, the UK, Mexico.
Then she started building her own businesses. A home-comfort company where every quote, supplier and installer decision shows up in the margin. A children’s music project built from scratch with her daughter and a stack of AI tools.
That combination is the point. Enough corporate depth to navigate complexity and speak to a board. Enough operator scars to know what actually works on a Tuesday afternoon.
The short version
Most advisers have either seen the boardroom or run a business. The useful ones have done both — and can tell each side the truth.
Corporate life taught her how organisations really change: slowly, politically, and mostly through decisions that someone finally dares to make. Running a business taught her the rest: margin, cash, pricing, sales, suppliers, customers and the cost of every hour.
Becoming a mother sharpened it further. Time became more valuable. Activity became less impressive. Better judgement became everything.
The Smart Rebellion is the result: strategic depth, commercial realism, operational sense — and a quiet rebellion against busywork dressed up as strategy.

How we work
Three principles we don’t negotiate on.
Economics first
Every recommendation has to make the business better, not just busier. If we can’t explain how it affects margin, leverage or risk, it isn’t finished.
Decisions over decks
The output is a choice someone can act on — with the trade-offs named. Documentation is there to support the decision, never to replace it.
Selective by design
We take on a small number of engagements where we can make a real difference. That means we sometimes say no, and always say what we think.
Outside the work
Smart strategy. Real business. A life built on purpose.
Two young daughters, a partner, a business to run and a studio to build. It’s not a backdrop to the work — it’s why the work has to be worth it. There is no time for theatre.
